My 2004 Kia Rio just died. The motor is shot and it's gonna cost me $1800 (parts %26amp; labor) to put a used engine in it to get it running again. That seems to be the main problem but maybe there are other problems too, no way to know until the car gets a new engine and starts running again.
The question is: Do I get the Kia repaired? or do I get a co-signer and get a used car from a used car dealership?
Fun Facts : KBB value on this car is $3800 for p2p resale, $1800 for trade-in
Thanks for the advice! I really don't know what to do....|||I've had a similar problem in the past. I just got rid of the car and sold it to someone who was willing to buy a car that needs some fixing. Its usually best to buy a car thats about 2-3 years old and used. Its got a good value and its still got a lot of good reliable life left.|||dg|||Personally I wouldn't get another Kia if you decide to get a new car. You might want to get a new used or new new car.|||Do not spend a dime on the Kia! Take the $1800 and use it to put a down payment on a good used car or if your credit is strong enough and you can make the payment, maybe a new car? If it was your car, and it just dies, why don't you know what else was wrong with it? There are a lot of good used cars out there! you just need to find out what you want and then look for the best vehicle in your area that fits your needs.
A car with a blown engine has a Real world value of $5 to $10 per 100 lbs., it is JUNK! KBB "values" are worthless and irrelevant because KBB values are for serviceable cars!! A Kia Rio with a blown engine and $10 will buy you a Starbucks Coffee!|||LOL Killed In Action an 04 with a new engine already.and somebodies lying to you when they told you 1800 for the engine|||I wouldn't get the car repaired, I've found that once you start having to pay for repairs it's non-stop and next thing you know you could have bought yourself a semi decent or new car. Try for a loan and get another car, even if you have bad credit (or good credit) these places will accept you.
