My sister wants to buy a used car but...........?

This car is the only one she wants after much looking, so reconsidering is out of the question.

My sister wants to buy a particular car, however it costs $2,000 more than she is willing to pay. 1: HOW DO WE GET THE DEALER TO BRING THE PRICE DOWN? She is an army wife with power of attorney, her husband is deployed, but will be back in 2 weeks. The last dealership we talked to refused to accept her power of attorney without her husband. He has left it up to her to buy the car before he gets back, it's going to be her own. 2: HOW DO WE OVERCOME THE POWER OF ATTORNEY ISSUE? She is going to trade her current vehicle which is valued by kbb at $2,500, she owes $5,000 on it and is willing to put down $4,000 on the new one, so essentially $1,500 down payment. She only wants to spend $12,000, with a monthly payment of/or less than $300. 3: HOW DO WE GET THE PAYMENTS TO BE $300 PER MONTH?My sister wants to buy a used car but...........?
Easy, you have to play them at there own game. One go at the end of the month, that's when they are willing to sell you anything low. Next go in there like you own the place and you dont care if you buy a car, the more excited you are the more they will want to screw you over. Next test drive them and if there going to fight you about the army attorney thing then be like fine i know other dealer that will. my personal favorite is bring a car from a different dealership and say if you dont make the deal i want then i got one over here that will. never say the price on the window try and see if you can find something wrong or make something up. Say will if your selling it for this, well i will give it to you for this. If they wont, trust me walk away. About 95 percent of the time they will bargain with you. Trust me on this i have done this so many times and i will give you an example. I recently bought a 2007 scion tc, these car resales for about 15000, they were selling it for 14424. after doing all this and bring a Nissan Maxima from a different dealer and i got it at the deal i wanted it at. There was nothing wrong with it and was in perfect shape with good miles on it. i bought it for 12000 that including tax title and tag plus dealers fees. I saved 4660.88 dollars. for a pretty much brand new carMy sister wants to buy a used car but...........?
Well, if they refuse to take the power of attorney, there's not really anything you can do about that. Make sure they are aware that, A) other dealerships will take it and B) you will tell everyone about the poor customer service you received. Words like "poor customer service" scare used car dealers.

Some negotiating tips when buying a used car are

1) don't appear too desperate or to like a car too much. If the dealer knows you're hooked on one car, they'll be less willing to negotiate.

2) discuss the price of the new car before mentioning the trade-in. Once that price is set, "oh yeah, I have a trade-in" is a good way to start a second negotiation. Keep the two separate. Make sure to get more than book value for your car.

3) do not get financing through the dealership. If you do, make sure to find out the interest rates and fees, even a "0% interest" offer usually carries huge fees that work out to be more expensive than a bank loan. Once again, don't talk financing until the price for the car and the price for the trade-in are negotiated. Each transaction should be separate.

4) did she buy the car she's trading in from the dealership? If so, talk "loyalty bonus" and "i want to buy this car from you again, but i still owe so much from my last one" and see if you can get the 5000 dollars owing taken down some more. They should give you way more than book value if they're buying back a car they sold you in the first place.

5) bring a man with you... yes I know it sounds sexist but dealers often try to take advantage of women. Tell him what your conditions are and let him do the talking. Even better, find a man who knows a lot about cars.

6) study. Find out what the book value of the car you want is. Find out what other dealers in the state are charging for the same or similar models.

7) it's possible that the dealership is already giving you a great deal... Sometimes we can't always afford what we want. Pay a little more or move on.My sister wants to buy a used car but...........?

Sorry to blow this plan up, but that is NOT how this game works. This deal is not going to happen.

I see you working like this: $2500 + $4000 - $5000 = $1500.

Does NOT work like that with a car that is not paid for yet. Your friend is $2500 (or more) upside down on that loan, so KBB does not matter at all.

This is really how your math looks:

$0 + $4000 - $5000 = -$1000

Your friend needs probably $5000 since that $2500 KBB value = about $50 for a dealer to sell that car at auction at wholesale price.

$5000 down or no deal.
