Should I sell my car or keep it?

Another typical car selling debate.. Our household has two cars, but for 6 months my wife will be overseas and debated whether or not to sell one of the cars. The car in question is a 2001 VW Passat. It has been paid for, right now its at 90000 miles but there are a couple of minor and one major repairs needed to get it in prime condition. Overall, about nearly $1000 in repair is needed, but it is drivable. My worries is about German cars in general, this car has a lot of warranty (covered) repairs and I'm worried that something real expensive would break later on if we keep the car. Last time I checked, KBB value selling is about 5K to 6K at most. If we do sell it, when my wife returns we probably want to get a used car about the same price, 6000-8000 dollars so we won't worry about car payments. Our other car is all paid for as well, so we are not hurting financially.

Thanks for the long story, any suggestions opinions appreciated! Should I sell my car or keep it?
With the Economy these days it is Tuff to sell a car, but even better to buy one, so if you get the chance sell it and buy a Chevy or a Ford.

I suggest you go to www.Craigslist.org and put an add for it up, see what you can catch, then also look for cars in your price range, you should be able to find a nice one for 6,000-8,000.Should I sell my car or keep it?
Sell it and bank the money. Buy a new American car when you need it, they are heavily discounted and will give you good service. Peace.Should I sell my car or keep it?
I would sell it, first off repair cost for those cars can be outrageous, and they really dont last all that long from what i have seen and heard.
