Do dealerships buy used cars if you're not doing a trade-in?

My car is a 2001 Chevy Blazer with a HUGE dent in the hood (don't ask). I don't want to deal with the hassle of selling to a private party and am willing to accept a little less than the KBB value, as long as I break even with what I owe the bank (about $3000). Any tips on selling to a dealership or to a service like Cash for Cars?Do dealerships buy used cars if you're not doing a trade-in?
Selling it yourself could double what the dealer will give you. And that's a hassle? Wow, wish I could just throw money away like that - oh, wait, I can, but CHOOSE NOT TO.

Dealer will not buy your car direct. Only at auctions and trade-ins.
A dealer not going to give you that kind of money. especially if it needs work. The only way your going to get the most for it is to sell it the way to don't want to.Do dealerships buy used cars if you're not doing a trade-in?
dealerships generally will not buy a vehicle from a person just trying to get rid of a car unless your vehicle is a specific vehicle a customer is looking exactly for....... A 01 Chevy Blazer will not fit that criteria...... I would suggest repairing it or driving it as is..... Dealerships have a BLACK BOOK which provides selling prices of dealer only auctions. Your car can be purchased at auction with described damage for around $700 - $1000
You're maybe not going to do this deal under these conditions--first, there are dealerships that will buy your car without it being a trade in--they will probably not give you Kelly Blue Book Value even if the car is in top condition, because they can only sell the car for around the KBB retail value themselves, they have to make a profit and also know the car will have to be gone over by their mechanics any repairs done and that it will sit for some time on their lot and depreciate in value.

Although you don't say where you are, whether it is a 4 or 2 door, 4wd or 2wd vehicle or what other options are included, the approximate retail value in excellent condition is around $7000. A fair dealer is going to buy that car for less than this amount, perhaps as much as $3000 less, and less the value of the repair to the hood which is hard for me to calculate, but I bet its $1000-1500 in parts and labor.

That probably puts a dealer's offering price close to what you owe the bank.

This is my guess, although I have done auto claims adjusting work and have some sense of values. Below is the link for the online KBB if it will help you....Do dealerships buy used cars if you're not doing a trade-in?
get quotes from several places like internet, other dealers, mechanics, etc, so you know about how much the car is worth. Then you can talk to dealers who do buy used cars and not get screwed over. You can also just have a body shop replace?fix the hood for less than $500.
