Car buying suggestion ?

Hi everyone,

Need your suggestion on this one: I'm buying a used car. Its a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES (Silver) with a little over 48k miles. It comes with standard features: radio, cd player etc. Car is fully automatic: power windows, auto transmission etc.

Now the seller is asking for $7K. The KBB value is around $7K as well. What would be a reasonable offer I should make ? My location is NYC, fyip.

Serious answers please. Let me know.

thanks in advance !Car buying suggestion ?
I always like to bring cash to the sale. It's amazing how much under the listed price the average person will accept. Take $6000 with you, but only offer him $5000.

Take that 5 grand and fan it out in front of him. That's a pretty hard thing for your average Joe to turn down.

If needed, negotiate up to the highest price you are willing to pay. The trick is to be able to walk away if you can't get the car at YOUR price.Car buying suggestion ?
Offer him the trade in or wholesale amount as per the Kelly Blue Book, if $7,000 is the starting retail value.Car buying suggestion ?
in a private sales, sellers usually ask what KBB has listed. Check it out for yourself by putting in all the features and such in KBB or edmunds.com and see what you get. Offer around $200-500 less then asking in cash if you have it.
seven thousand is a good price and at that i would run a car-fax report to find out if its been wrecked the car is over 5 years old and has had less then 10,000 miles a year put on it..

but back to what you wanted to know offer 6,500 that would be a very good buy with the millage on the car that is if its not been damaged.... also take a very close look at the gas pedel cover and the brake pedel cover if they have alot of ware or are brand new thats not the correct milage...
