Progressive told me they use jd power and associates to value cars when providing payment for a total loss. The value they gave me was a couple grand less then KBB. They said they dont use KBB cause JD updates everyday verus oncea month. A friend told me last year progressive did his value based on KBB. How can I challenge this, my claims rep is pretty much not open to negotiation and I do not think I gt a fair value, and my car was in great shape pre accident.|||You can look at other sites, like edmunds.com for the value of your vehicle, but remember that any value you see, no matter what website, will show the value before an accident; also - kbb and other sites have several different values ( pricing for a dealer, private party, etc ), and you would be getting the lowest blue book showing...................you may just have to settle for what you get, especially if the vehicle was paid off ( if it was not, then you will still owe financing on the vehicle, wrecked or not !! )|||They don't use either . At least exclusively. They go by what a like car in like condition is selling for in your area at the time of the loss.. You are concentrating too much on
book values. If you think your car is worth more, get a couple of written appraisals from car professionals, show it to the insurance and ask them to reconsider. If you can prove to them that they are too low, they will often "budge". Remember.... NOTHING is written in stone !
